Vicki, I would advise you to do as Nakiea did and get a Durable Power of Attorney for financial matters from a private lawyer as I doubt that the one you have is an actual Durable Power of Attorney for all financial things-----it is most likely a Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care matters (be sure it is witnessed and notarized as if not it is only good at the VA)! Yes, one does have to worry about the VA getting them a fiduciary to replace you especially where PTSD is more than 50%-------the Durable Power of Attorney naming you for finances puts the brakes on that!
