You and I must have been on the same wavelength. I just called the VA and had them email the forms. Got them filled out and faxed to the appropriate people. I have always wanted him to own his own counseling and take ownership for his health. He's not doing that, so I insisted on release of information forms. To be truthful, it was the first release I've used (had to get mnay signed by patients and their families) personally that didn't have an expiration date. They usually have to be renewed at the very least once a year. At any rate he signed the forms and I am now officially in the loop.

That's a good idea for you to have copies with you just in case. Saves lots of time and frustration.
