Recieving SSDI along with a Service Connected Compentsation was not always a mix. For many years you could recieve one or the other until it was ruled SSDI was income generated by one's self during theiryears of employment before these Service Connected Medical condition rendered them unable to maintain regular secured employment.

At the time this change went into affect another very important change was made that has benefited  many disabled  Veterans. Prior to this change a Veteran had to prove to both entities They in fact were disabled  according to the standards set forth separatly by each agency. In other words you may have been deemed disabled by the VA while SSDI denied you and vice versa. This change came about with the reform that you can recieve benefits from SSDI along with Compensation from the VA. It was further established if you had proven to one govermental establishment of a disabilty with the same edvidence was now allowed to be used for all govermental agencies  thst in fact that agency rules compensation based on that particular mefical malady.
