The Vietnam accounts I have been reading in Patience's
Recovering from the War
just made my heart break, but I do feel I understand the ladies on the site a little better. To think of the fear, frustration, physical discomfort on top of all kinds of trauma - only to be blatantly disrespected on their return? That really is too much. The bitterness could last a lifetime. Plus they were so young when they went. I knew that it happened, but when you read some personal accounts and get a real picture in your mind - its awful. But to have actually lived it, that would be devastating.
