I found out in 2006. One of the reasons for the lateness in treatment for Nam vets is because when they came home there was no official PTSD, It was not until around 1980 it was a official diagnosis. Our vets were told to suck it up so thats what they did.  Many years passed that they tried to cope, deal and even hide the demons. Many used alcohol, drugs and even became work aholics to keep from being preoccupied with the intrusions of the memories, When they were younger and stronger they could as they aged it became harder. Thus PTSD 30+ years later with the diagnosis. My dh left the Army in 1972 to never set foot back into anything with the military until 2006. Many Nam vets did not even admit they were vets. My hope and wish is all of the vets coming home get the treatment now thus the coping skills they need to live with PTSD. They don't have the stigma of being a crazy Nam vet like our guys did. Keep him talking that is the best thing there is. Glad to hear about Date night and talking. Huge steps
